Vicki DeGeus-Morris began her career with the Coroner's Office as a Deputy Coroner under Coroner Dale G. Haile in 1985. She was promoted to Chief Deputy in 1988 and was elected to the Office of Coroner in 1990, taking office in January 1991. Vicki retired from the Wilder Quick Response Unit in Wilder in 1997 after serving as a volunteer for 20 years, some of which as the President of the organization. Vicki has continued her education in death investigation over the years, and in 1996 was selected to the American Board of Forensic Examiners as a Board Certified Forensic Examiner with a Fellowship of the College.

When Vicki began her term of office in 1991 she brought Steve Rhodes in as her Chief Deupty. Steve is also a volunteer member of the Wilder Fire Department and Quick Response Unit and is a reserve officer for the Parma and Wilder Police Departments, as well as the past Mayor of Wilder. He also has continued education in death investigation throughout his time in the office. In 1999, Bill Kirby joined the staff of the Coroner's Office after retiring as Chief of Police for Parma, serving Parma for 22 years. He was also a past city councilman for the City of Parma.

The primary role of the coroner is to determine and certify cause of manner and death for those cases which fall under the jurisdiction of the Coroner. These include natural, accidental, homicide, and suicide.
