Stay up to date with current news in Canyon County

The Canyon County Treasurer’s Office is reminding taxpayers that their 2012 property taxes must be paid in full by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2013.  Payments made after the June 20th deadline will be assessed a 2% late charge and interest will date back to January 1st with a rate of 12% annually.


The final date for taxpayers to protest an assessment for 2013 is Monday, June 24.  Today's edition of the Idaho Press-Tribune incorrectly listed the final date as Friday, June 28.


The Canyon County Board of Commissioners have agreed to a $6.5 million contract with Engineered Structures, Inc. (ESI) for the design-build of a new Canyon County Administration Building on the northwest corner of 11th Avenue and Albany Street in Caldwell.


End Violence Against Women International (EVAWI) has recognized the Canyon County Sheriff's Office for its work promoting the Start by Believing campaign.

The Southwest Idaho Juvenile Detention Center (SWIJDC) has been selected as one of 43 facilities nationwide to receive a grant from the National PREA Resource Center to strengthen its zero-tolerance culture for sexual abuse.


Canyon County Parks, Recreation &Waterways has a number of events planned in May to celebrate Idaho Archaeology and Historic Preservation Month.  All of the events will take place at Celebration Park, which is located five miles south of Melba on the Snake River.


The Canyon County Board of Commissioners is hoping to facilitate support for the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children Coalition following a recent presentation at a Treasure Valley Partnership meeting about the risks Idaho children face online.
