Stay up to date with current news in Canyon County

The Southwest Idaho Juvenile Detention Center (SWIJDC) has been selected as one of 43 facilities nationwide to receive a grant from the National PREA Resource Center to strengthen its zero-tolerance culture for sexual abuse.


The Canyon County Courthouse and DMV will be closed Monday, May 27, 2013 in observance of Memorial Day.  Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, May 28th.


The Canyon County Driver’s License Office will be closed to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12 to allow employees to attend a state-mandated training course from the Idaho Department of Transportation on the new commercial driver’s license (CDL) requirements for 2013. 


May in National Drug Court Month and several county employees are gearing up to participate in an active fundraiser to help raise money for Canyon County Juvenile Problem Solving Courts.  The participants are looking for people to sponsor them per mile as they bike, run and walk throughout the month of May. 


Canyon County Parks, Recreation &Waterways has a number of events planned in May to celebrate Idaho Archaeology and Historic Preservation Month.  All of the events will take place at Celebration Park, which is located five miles south of Melba on the Snake River.


The Canyon County Board of Commissioners is hoping to facilitate support for the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children Coalition following a recent presentation at a Treasure Valley Partnership meeting about the risks Idaho children face online.
